【3】辨析disturb, interrupt與trouble
(1) disturb和interrupt都是及物動詞，但意思不同。前者是“干擾，困擾”，后者是“打斷”。She was disturbed to hear you had been injured in the accident.
她聽到你在事故中受了傷感到不安。
Don't interrupt your teacher while he is talking.
老師在講話的時候你不要打斷他。
(2) disturb還可表示“妨礙；妨害；侵犯(權(quán)利)；弄亂，打亂(計劃等)；激蕩(水面)”。
He put his oars in the water and disturbed the smooth surface of the lake.
他把槳放入水中，攪亂了平靜的湖面。
Don't disturb the paper on my desk.
別亂動我桌上的文件。

(3) trouble指麻煩別人所造成的不便而說的客氣話。

C 本句意思為“昨晚因停電，節(jié)目被中斷了半個小時。” interrupt中斷；disturb打亂，擾亂；miss思念，錯過；pause暫停，為不及物動詞。
【4】辨析examine, inspect, check
這些動詞都有“調(diào)查，檢查”之意。
(1)examine是最普通用詞，可指粗略地查看，也可指仔細觀察或調(diào)查以確定事物的性質(zhì)、功能、特點等。
They put a screen around his bed so that the doctor could examine him.
他們在他的床的四周放上屏風，以便醫(yī)生給他做檢查。
(2)inspect是指根據(jù)完美的標準或品質(zhì)等對被檢查的對象進行比較，以檢查或視察該事物是否有差異、缺陷。它側(cè)重按一定質(zhì)量標準檢查某物，找出不足或不同之處。
He carefully inspected the china for cracks.
他仔細檢查瓷器看有無裂紋。
(3)check指“核對，檢查”。
He checked his furniture and found his color TV set gone.
他核對家具，發(fā)現(xiàn)彩色電視機不見了。

B look表示“一般的看”，為不及物動詞； check意為“檢查，核對”，看看是有還是無，是對還是錯；investigate 指為發(fā)現(xiàn)事實真相或了解掌握情況而進行深入細致地現(xiàn)場考察；scan指細看或瀏覽，根據(jù)句意選B。
【5】辨析certain，sure
一般來說，sure和certain的用法是相同的，但sure的語氣比certain聽起來弱些，而區(qū)別主要體現(xiàn)在搭配上。
(1)兩者都能用于以下句型中：
①be sure/certain ＋ about/of短語，表示“對(某事)有把握”。主語必須是人。
I am sure/certain of his returning.
我確信他會回來。
②be sure/certain to do sth.，表示“一定會做某事”，主語可以是人，也可以是物。
Spring is sure/certain to follow winter.
冬天過后一定是春天。
③be sure/certain ＋從句，表示“確信……”，“確定；弄清楚”，主語只能是人，而不能是物。
You must be sure/certain when the bus will leave.
你必須弄清汽車何時出發(fā)。
(2)二者的不同點在于：
①I' m sure…與I' m certain…均可譯為“我深信(確信)……”，但兩者的含義卻不同。前者表示一種主觀上的判斷或感覺，事實并不一定如此，后者強調(diào)的則是客觀事實，意為主語已經(jīng)知道后面的內(nèi)容是既定的事實。試比較下面一組句子：
I' m sure he didn't steal it. He isn't that kind of person.
我確信他沒偷，他不是那種人。
I' m certain he didn't break the cup. I broke it myself.
我敢肯定他沒有打碎那個茶杯，(因為)那個茶杯是我打碎的。
②如果it作為形式主語代替從句時，則其后的表語用certain，而不能用sure。
It isn't certain whether he will give us a report next Monday.
下星期一他是否來為我們作報告還不能確定。
③兩者在作定語時含義不同。sure意為“可靠的；無誤的”；而certain若修飾可數(shù)名詞，意為“某一；某些；某種；一些”，若修飾抽象名詞，表示程度，意為“有點；有些”。
He made a sure answer.
他回答得準確無誤。
A certain person called on me yesterday.
昨天有個人來找過我。
④在祈使句中常用sure，不宜用certain。
Be sure and remember what I told you.
千萬要記住我對你講的話。
⑤口語中，sure常作副詞，用在肯定答語中替代surely，這時與of course，certainly意思相當，而certain不可作副詞用。
— Would you please turn down the radio a little bit?
——請你把收音機音量調(diào)小點，好嗎？
— Sure/Of course/Certainly.
——當然可以。
— It's ______ that he said: “I am ______ to help you.”

B it 作形式主語時只能用certain 作表語。人作主語時，sure和certain都可以用，但是不能用surely。故選B。
【6】 compare vt. 比較，對照
compare with與……做比較(同類相比)

compare sth./sb. to 將……比(喻)作……(異類相比)
A teacher's work is often compared to a candle.

comparison n. 比較；對照

in comparison with/to 與……相比

【9】辨析pick, choose, select, elect
(1)pick意為“挑選，挑揀”，是仔細挑剔和苛刻地選擇，多指挑選有形的東西。
You should pick your words while preparing the speech.
準備演講時，你得注意措辭。
(2)choose用法最廣，表示“選擇，挑選”，側(cè)重于通過意志或判斷，是最普通的用語。
She chose the red sweater rather than the pink one.
她選中那件紅毛衣而不是那件粉紅色的。
(3)select表示“精選，挑選”，是指從同類的許多東西中仔細辨別后選擇，挑選最合適的，從而淘汰一部分。
We selected some for seeds.
我們選了一些做種子。
(4)elect表示“選舉，推選”接班人或職位。
All the people agreed to elect him our chairman.
所有的人都同意推舉他為我們的主席。

【1】辨析as well as, as well
(1)as well as作為習語用作介詞時，其含義是“還有”、“不但……而且……”。在A as well as B的結(jié)構(gòu)里，語意的重點在A，不在B。
He can speak Spanish as well as English.
他不但會說英語，而且會講西班牙語。
as well as用作連詞引出比較從句，其義為“和……一樣好”。語意的重點依舊在前部。
He speaks Spanish as well as English.
他說西班牙語像說英語一樣好。
用于主語之后，謂語動詞的單復數(shù)形式跟它前面的主語保持一致。
The students, as well as their teacher, are all excited at the news.
聽到這個消息，學生們和老師都感到興奮。
(2)as well 單獨使用于句尾表示“也”，“既……”，“又……”，相當于also, 但不能用于否定句。
